New 2,200 square foot home located on the Eastsound south slope of Orcas Island with glorious southern regional views and the water inlet. The building is sited on top of an existing rock formation with an overall curved parti, wrapping around this natural feature. The design consists of three primary blocks: Master Suite; Great Room; and Arrival Tower. The three blocks are swiftly linked by a curved causeway that offer a simple roofline and the primary space are glazed floor to ceiling to capture expansive views of the water and surrounding forest. The home is planned based on Universal Design Principles with clear connections between the Great Room and Master Suite. Materials consist of concrete vertical elements with Douglas Fir glulam framing and car decking system providing a warm and natural interior. The Arrival Tower contains a custom steel stairway and elevator, and attached by a one story carport.
