In collabroarion with Mohinder Singh Datta, AIA, this two story, 28,000 Square Foot Type VB renovations and additions project in Hayward. California, ABKJ provided architectural design, structural engineering and BIM services, along with coordinating civil, landscape, and MEP coordination. Building program consists of prayer rooms, dining hall, new kitchen, classrooms, and grand Hallway for community patrons to occupy during religious functions and social activities. Project involved land use review and permitting process with further complex modelling for accurate documentation was required and verification of existing as-built conditions. The architectural facade of the new additions consists of a series of curved roof tops fronted by a rhythmic verandah with three distinct Gateways. The building is presented in a saffron with blue accents that represent the primary colors of the Sikh Culture, and religous symbols mounted each Gateway to reinforce their identity to the community.
