ABKJ provided Architecture, Engineering, and BIM services for the renovation and expansion of an existing waterfront home on Lake Washington in Seattle. The redevelopment of the property joins two historically distinct and separate buildings with a modern contemporary central structure that provides for a new basement fitness room, main level kitchen and terrace, and connecting bridge at the upper level. The addition is draped with a two story eastern facade with clear views of the lake followed by a sequence concrete terracing steps and planters that descend to the waterfront grade level. The home is planned meeting Universal Design Principles and ADA Guidelines for maximum care environemnt with seamless mobility from one end to the other. The anchoring internal elements that are visually seen from the exterior are a glass elevator and metal helical stair that connect all three levels with elegance and artful play of form.
